My goals for this litter...
This was an oopsie litter! Yep, even with years of dog experience under one's belt, accidents can still happen. We had already completed the DNA testing for both Boone and Genna, but they were just over a year old so we didn't have their hips nor elbows done.
Thankfully our wonderful reproductive vet clinic, Idaho Veterinary Hospital was able to rush us in and get Boone's hips done right away, despite covid!
We have since been able to follow that up with getting Genna's hips done and both their elbows done! Genna has also had her ear's done and passed.
My same breeding goals, however, still apply to this litter. We had planned on breeding Boone and Genna in the future with the hopes of making excellent family and working farm dogs.
Boone is the comedian of the family. He dances, he prances, he wiggles his floof! and he loves to make his family laugh. He is, however, very serious about protecting his family as well. We have to keep an eye on him whenever strangers are around - one wrong move and he is likely to take offense. I think part of this is because we got him right before covid hit so he didn't get any outside socialization, but I also think it is just his character to protect. You wouldn't think he would be protective the way he acts with his family, but we have had several occasions to see his protective nature in action.
Boone also gets along great with all the pets and livestock here on the ranch. He doesn't chase the inside cats - basically just ignores them. He doesn't chase the poultry or the goats... he thinks the pigs are weird LOL.
I feel his temperament compliments Genna's because she is sooo laid-back and easy going. She is not reactive to anything, from strangers to loud noises, she just takes it all in stride. Where Boone is a clown, Genna is a cuddle-bug and prefers to be IN your lap more than anywhere else. She is also great with all the pets and livestock, and has some of her dam Eilidh's Rule's Nazi disposition, whereas Boone couldn't care who broke the rules.
Boone has a very nice coat, full with a beautiful mane, but silky and non-tangling instead of soft and fluffy. Genna has a very short coat, never gets a mat and needs minimal brushing.
We still have two pups from the litter, Freedom and Justice, but at this time we are only trying to place Justice - we haven't decided fully on if Freedom is staying (my 15 year old wants to keep her).
Justice (nicknamed Bubs) is black/white, long tail, and has 2 blue eyes. He is so beautiful! His coloring is dynamic. He is a big boy, weighing about 45 pounds and still has some growing to do.
He is a strong dog, with lots of energy that needs directions. He is crate trained, leash trained, kennel trained, with some basic obedience.
He has a higher prey drive and though he has been raised with house cats, I do not trust him with them. I think he would do great at agility, flyball or an activity that takes a lot of energy.
He is clear on CEA, PRA-PRCD, MDR1 & DM (Embark), and has had his ear's checked (OFA BAER) and cleared.
Justice is available with full ESCR registration, or on a neuter contract. He is also available without registration papers, but must be neutered.
