I owe the fulfillment of my dreams to my wonderful, supporting, awesome family. From my daughter who loves it all just as much as I do; my son who is my right hand and helps me daily live the lifestyle I desire for our family; to my husband - who without him, none of this would be becoming a reality. Words cannot fully express how deeply grateful I am to have been blessed with these very special people to travel this journey with me, help me, and believe in this dream together.
Our goal is to raise, grow, hunt, gather and produce as much of our own food as we can. Not only because this is the lifestyle we choose to live, but because I want to know that my kids are eating healthy, wholesome real food. And I want them to learn, by doing, how to make it!
The weather is finally just right to plant ... trees! Even though we should probably wait until we are more settled, each year we wait is another year of delay before we can reap what we have sown.
After learning about a tree sale in the valley, we headed down to see what they had available and learn about the different varieties. They had some mix-ups when unloading the truck and some of the trees had been mislabeled while other were missing labels all together.
We got there later in the day when most of the rush was over and not many trees were left - our plan had just been to learn, but seeing an opportunity, I talked them into selling me some of the unmarked trees for 50% off! A quick stop at Bi-Mart on the way home garnered us a few more trees and lo-and-behold we were ready to start planting our future orchard!.... much to my husbands surprise LOL.
