2013.. I had been so positive and hopeful for a good year, and though it was not a "bad" year, it certainly has been a roller-coaster.
My Dad was diagnosed with a heart condition which causes his heart to beat too fast. Before he was diagnosed, it was so bad that it was affecting the amount of oxygen he was receiving to his brain, which caused him to not think clearly.
Thank goodness they figured out what was going on and got him the medication he needed to keep his heart steady! Because he is such a doer and a helper, this was very unexpected and brought into sharp focus that he will not be here forever. I wasn't quite ready for that reality.
January also brought some biting cold weather, making our snowy wonderland not so much fun to play in. On warmer days (when the temps were above 0!), the kids would haul their sleds up the lane and sled down until they got too cold.
We are looking at building a small sawmill with my Dad this year so that we are able to affordably build all the buildings we need to put up. We will also start raising pigs this year! I am trying to talk my husband into building me a smoke shack to cure our own bacon and hams. We will see how that goes LOL.
I do not make many New Year Resolutions - but I do have one I would like to make for 2014. That we take time to enjoy life with our children. That we slow down and appreciate the small moments.
May we all, our family and yours, be Blessed in 2014 with Joy, Love and Prosperity!
